The frame is rated for 100,000 height changes. At four moves a day that is longer than most people keep a desk, and it is the number worth looking at, because a sit stand desk fails at its column long before it fails at its top.
- 100,000 cycle rating Tested at the lifting columns, which is where a motorized desk wears out.
- Two monitors across The top takes a dual screen setup plus the things that live around it.
- A tray underneath Cables and a keyboard get their own level instead of the desktop.
What a Cycle Rating Actually Tells You
Motorized desks are sold on speed and quietness, and both are easy to feel in a showroom. Durability is not. A cycle rating is the one durability figure a maker can be held to, because it describes the mechanism rather than the finish. The columns here use aerospace grade connectors between the lifting sections, which is the joint that takes the load every time the desk moves.
Sitting and Standing on One Surface
The reason to own one of these is that the switch is frictionless. A desk you have to clear before raising is a desk you stop raising, so the whole point is that the monitors, the lamp and the coffee all travel with the top. That is why the load capacity and the frame rigidity matter more than the motor speed most listings lead with.
The Steel Frame and the Room
Steel is heavier than the aluminum used on lighter sit stand frames, and that weight is the stability. A desk that flexes at standing height is unusable at standing height, since the wobble arrives exactly when the top is furthest from the floor. The trade is that this is not a desk to move around a room casually once it is built.
Setup, Load and Placement
Does it need a level floor? It works best on one. A motorized frame corrects nothing for you, so an uneven floor shows up as a rocking desk at every height rather than only at one.
What goes on the tray? The things you do not want moving with the top when it rises, or the ones you want out of sight. A keyboard, a laptop dock and the cable runs all sit better under the desktop than on it.
Will it take two monitors and a laptop? Yes. The frame is built around a dual monitor load, so a third screen or a laptop stand alongside is within what the top and the columns are designed for.
