Witch hazel is in this bottle and in nothing else AMINNAH makes for the chest. It is an astringent, which is a different category of ingredient to every oil and butter around it, and it changes how the serum feels on contact. The bottle is also four fluid ounces, half what the butter and the scrub hold.

What An Astringent Actually Does

Witch hazel is distilled from the bark and leaves of a shrub and it contains tannins, which make the skin surface feel briefly taut and cut the shine an oil blend would otherwise leave. That is a sensory effect on the surface, not a change to the tissue underneath, and any product describing it as anything more is overselling a plant extract.

Half The Size, So Check The Arithmetic

Four ounces against eight in the matching butter and scrub. A serum is used in smaller amounts so the bottle still lasts, but it is worth knowing you are buying half the volume before you compare two prices side by side. Work in cost per ounce rather than cost per bottle.

Where The Astringent Is A Problem

Witch hazel does not suit everyone. On skin that is already dry or reactive it can add to the tightness rather than ease it, and it is one of the more common reasons a plant-based product disagrees with somebody. Will the witch hazel dry my skin? It can on dry or reactive skin. The oils around it offset that for most people, but patch test if you are unsure.
