The Tiered Tulle Gala Gown in Lavender Blue is floor length, high necked, and built from layers of tulle that fall in tiers from a lattice bodice. It is about as full a silhouette as formalwear offers and about as impractical, which is the correct trade for what it is.

What Tiers Do to Volume

Tulle gathered in a single mass reads as one heavy shape. Split into tiers it reads as movement, because each layer moves on a slightly different beat and the eye follows the sequence rather than the bulk.

That is also why a tiered skirt photographs well from the side, since the layers separate as you turn and the outline changes with you.

Measure the bust at its fullest with the tape level under the arms, the waist at its narrowest, and the hip around the widest point, keeping the tape snug but not tight and taking every figure over what you intend to wear underneath.

Size to the bodice and let the skirt look after itself, since tulle at this volume has no opinion about a hip measurement. The lattice top is fitted and fixed, so that is where a near miss will show.

Before You Order

How much room does it need? More than a column gown, since a car, a narrow aisle and a crowded table are all harder in this than in a straight silhouette.

Can the length be taken up? Every tier would have to be re-cut, so the hem is not a small alteration on this one.

Is a high neck warm to wear? It covers the throat but leaves the arms bare, so the gown suits a heated room rather than an outdoor evening.
