Turn around and the gown changes. The Beaded Waist A-Line Gown with Crisscross Straps keeps a quiet V neckline at the front and puts its architecture behind you, where slim straps cross and recross over an open back, which is why this shape is worn with the hair up or it is not worn properly at all.

The Design Is at the Back

A front-facing gown has to earn attention in a room where everyone is facing forward. A back-facing one earns it as you walk away, at the altar, on a staircase and in every photograph taken from behind a seated table.

The straps here are the design rather than a fastening. They cross in a V across the shoulder blades and hold the bodice from four points instead of two, which is also why the gown sits more securely than a plain spaghetti strap of the same width.

Ruching under a Beaded Band

The bodice is gathered rather than smooth, and a beaded band runs across the natural waist above the skirt. Those two work together: the gathering gives the front dimension, and the band draws a clean horizontal through it so the bodice does not read as one soft mass.

Seven colorways run the same silhouette. Blush, marble, mint, peach and pink sit in the pale bridesmaid range, while burgundy and navy take the same gown into a fall or evening register without any change of shape.

Bridesmaid Lines and Small Parties

Bridesmaid duty is the obvious use, and the seven-shade palette on one silhouette is exactly what a coordinated party needs. Beyond that it works as spring wedding-guest wear, a formal graduation and a garden reception.

The open back rules out most support and most outerwear. A wrap or shrug covers the only part of the gown doing any work, and a conventional bra cannot be hidden behind crossed straps. Plan the outfit around a bare back or choose a different shape.

Two Bands Seven Colors

Every colorway is cut in both bands, and the run stops there. This gown exists in XS and S only, so a bridesmaid party can order it in seven shades but not across a wide range of sizes, and that is worth confirming before anyone commits the group to it.

Every figure above is in inches and is taken on the body rather than on the finished garment, so measure the fullest part of the bust, the narrowest part of the waist an inch or two above the navel, and the fullest part of the hips.

With one inch between the two bands, the tiebreaker is the waist rather than the bust: a beaded band cannot be eased the way gathered chiffon can, so it has to sit correctly from the start. An A-line skirt makes the hip figure informational here, as it does on any skirt that falls away from the body.

Hair, Straps and Hemming

Does this gown have to be worn with the hair up? Practically, yes. Hair down covers the crossed straps entirely, which removes the only feature on the back of the gown. A low twist or a chignon still counts, and it does not have to be elaborate.

Can the crossed straps be adjusted? They are set into the bodice at both ends rather than sliding through a loop, so length changes are a seamstress job. It is a short one, and shortening the crossing point lifts the whole back a useful half inch.

What can be worn underneath? Adhesive cups only. There is no band position that the crossed straps would hide, and a low-back converter still needs a horizontal band that this back does not have room for.

How much hem allowance is there? Enough for the usual heel adjustment on a chiffon-weight A-line, but decide the shoe before the fitting. Re-hemming a soft skirt twice is more work than doing it once, and each pass costs a little of the skirt's fall.
