Product Type: Earrings

Stamped .925 sterling silver set with a clear round CZ, these sterling silver stud earrings run from a tiny 2mm dot to a 6mm stone. Silver has a soft white shine that steel cannot quite copy, and that warmth is the reason to choose them.

  • Stamped .925 silver. Sterling, marked on the piece so you can check it.
  • Starts at 2mm. Small enough for a third or fourth lobe hole.
  • Clear round CZ. Prong set to sit just above the post.
  • Silver clutches included. Plus a clear rubber back for each earring.

Sterling Silver Stud Earrings and Tarnish

Sterling silver stud earrings are 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent other metal, usually copper, which gives soft silver the strength to hold a prong. Silver also reacts with traces of sulfur in the air, which is why sterling can darken over time: tarnish is a surface film, not damage, and a silver polishing cloth lifts it in seconds. Storing the studs in a small zip bag between wears keeps air off the silver and the shine around longer.

A 2mm Stud for Second Holes

The 2mm size is about the width of a pinhead, roughly 0.08 inch, which makes it the stud people choose for second hole earrings and for the third and fourth piercings up the lobe, where a bigger stone would crowd the first. Step the sizes down as you climb the ear, 5mm, then 3mm, then 2mm, and the line looks planned. The full run is 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm. It is sold as a pair, so one order covers both ears.

Silver Clutches and Rubber Backs

Each earring comes with a silver clutch and a clear rubber back. The silver clutch matches the post and grips firmly; the rubber back is softer, quieter against the neck and easier to spot if it drops on a carpet. Keep the silver clutch for days out and switch to rubber for comfort at home, and you will never be hunting for a spare.

Sterling CZ Stud Choices

Is sterling better than surgical steel for studs? They suit different priorities. Sterling is softer and whiter and can tarnish; 316L steel is harder and keeps its finish with no polishing. Pick sterling if you love the warmth of silver.

What does the .925 stamp mean? It means 925 parts in every thousand are pure silver, the standard for anything sold as sterling.

Can I shower in sterling studs? Water itself does little harm, but soap and chlorinated water speed up tarnish, so taking them out first keeps the polishing to a minimum.
