Product Type: Laptop Sleeves

Yellow and navy on a neoprene sleeve, sized for 13 or 15 inch laptops. Neoprene is the material wetsuits are made from, and it is doing two jobs here at once. It is a closed-cell foam, which means the same single layer that keeps water out is also the layer that absorbs an impact. Most sleeves need a waterproof shell and a separate pad to achieve that.

One Material, Two Kinds Of Protection

  • Closed cells do not absorb water. The foam has no open channels for liquid to travel through, so a spilled drink sits on the surface instead of soaking towards the laptop.
  • The same foam cushions. Air trapped in the cells compresses under impact, which is exactly what a padded layer does, without adding a second layer.
  • It resists oil and heat too. Neoprene is chemically stable in a way woven fabric is not, so a hot car or a greasy bag surface does not degrade it.

The Measurements To Check Your Laptop Against

Screen size is a poor guide because two 13 inch machines can have very different footprints. Measure yours against these instead:

Neoprene laptop sleeve: external dimensions by size
Size Width Height Depth
13 inch 13.5 in / 34.3 cm 10.5 in / 26.7 cm 0.59 in / 1.5 cm
15 inch 14.75 in / 37.3 cm 11.25 in / 28.5 cm 0.59 in / 1.5 cm

These are the external measurements of the sleeve, so a laptop needs to sit inside them with a little to spare. The 13 inch sleeve weighs 6.49 oz and the 15 inch 8.8 oz, so neither adds meaningful weight to a bag.

The Lining Protects A Different Thing

Neoprene stops impact; the faux fur lining stops scratching. Those are separate problems needing separate answers: a hard shell can protect a laptop from a drop while its own interior slowly abrades the screen lid. The soft pile lining is what prevents that, and the zipper is padded along its binding for the same reason.

Two Sliders On The Zip

The zip runs across the top and carries two sliders, so it opens from either end and opens fully, letting the sleeve lay flat rather than having to be peeled off the machine. It also means the opening can be started at whichever side your hand is on, which matters when the sleeve is inside a bag rather than on a desk.

What This Sleeve Is Not

Water resistant is not waterproof. The zip is not sealed, so the sleeve handles a spill, rain on a short walk and a damp bag, and will not survive being submerged.

Before You Order

How do I know which size fits my laptop? Measure your machine's width and depth and compare with the table above rather than going by its advertised screen size, since footprints vary between models at the same screen size.

Is it waterproof? Water resistant. Neoprene itself does not absorb water, but the zip is not sealed, so it handles spills and light rain rather than immersion.

Will it fit inside a backpack? Yes. At 0.59 inches deep it is a slim sleeve rather than a hard case, designed to go inside a bag rather than to be carried alone.
