Hair Scarf

A hair scarf does the job of an elastic and a ribbon at once, and silk is the fabric that suits it best, because its smooth surface slides over hair instead of snagging it. Long strips wind around a ponytail and still leave enough length for a bow; a square folded into a triangle covers a bun or ties as a headband; a slim strip weaves through a braid. Tie the silk over a plain elastic rather than in place of it and the style holds all day.
