Product Type: Evening Gowns

The side cut-outs on this gown are not open. The Cinderella Divine One Shoulder Sequin Gown with Leg Slit uses sheer illusion panels at the waist, so it reads as cut away from across a room and is actually closed against the body, which is a different proposition from a gown with real openings in it.

Illusion Rather than Opening

An illusion panel is a fine transparent mesh set into the seam where fabric would otherwise be. At any distance it disappears and the eye reads skin; up close it is clearly cloth.

That distinction decides two practical things. The gown holds its shape across the waist rather than relying on the panels above and below to stay aligned, and nothing can shift, gape or ride at the opening because there is no opening to shift.

Sequins on a Fitted Skirt

Sequins are stitched in overlapping rows facing one direction, which is why a sequin skirt returns light in a sheet rather than in points. On a fitted silhouette that sheet follows the body, and every curve it crosses is where the light gathers.

A leg slit is doing real work on a skirt this close. Sequin cloth has almost no give, so without the slit the stride would be limited to whatever the hem allowed. Five colorways run the same design: midnight grey, opal, rosewood, black and emerald.

Prom and Red Carpet Evenings

Prom is the obvious home, and so is an awards evening, a New Year party or any occasion photographed under a flash, which is the lighting sequins were made for.

The run is cut in sizes 4 and 6. Two bands is the narrowest range in the collection, so the table below settles whether this gown is available to you before anything else on this page does.

Two Bands Five Colors

All five colorways are cut in both bands.

Size chart, measured in inches
Size Bust (in) Waist (in) Hips (in)
4 34 26 37
6 35 27 38

Every figure above is in inches and is taken on the body rather than on the finished garment, so measure the fullest part of the bust, the narrowest part of the waist an inch or two above the navel, and the fullest part of the hips.

Sequin cloth contributes nothing to the fit, so read all three figures rather than choosing on one. A dense field of stitching stops the base fabric moving at all, which means there is no give anywhere to absorb a difference. Take the larger band where two look possible and have it brought in, because a sequin seam can be taken in and cannot be let out.

Sequins, Slits and Handling

Do sequins catch on stockings and upholstery? They are stitched facing one direction, so drawn against the grain they can snag. Dress after hosiery, sit down slowly, and smooth the skirt downward rather than up.

Can the slit be raised? Yes, and it is a seam left open below a stitched point. Moving that point takes a seamstress minutes, though on a sequin gown the stones along the new stitch line need checking afterward.

What can be worn underneath? Adhesive cups. A one shoulder neckline leaves one side bare and the illusion panels sit exactly where a band would cross, so there is no position that stays hidden.

How should a sequin gown be stored? Hanging, on a padded hanger, with nothing pressed against it. Sequined cloth folded in a box comes out with the sequins crushed flat along the fold lines, and those do not lift back out.
