Product Type: Evening Gowns

Crepe is the bridal fabric that photographs as a shape rather than as a shine. The Cinderella Divine Off Shoulder Crepe Wedding Gown is cut in it deliberately, so the eye reads the line of the gown and the drape of the shoulder instead of a highlight running down the skirt.

Why Crepe and Not Satin

Satin returns light in a long unbroken sweep, which is beautiful and which also flattens a silhouette into a bright band in a photograph. Crepe has a matte, faintly grained surface that scatters light instead.

The practical result is that everything shaped into this gown stays visible. The pleats gathering into the side seam, the curve of the sweetheart neckline and the fall of the off-shoulder sleeve all read clearly at a distance, where the same details in satin would compete with the shine.

An Off Shoulder Sleeve on a Strap

The pleated sleeve sits around the upper arm rather than on the shoulder, and a thin strap runs above it to hold the whole arrangement in place.

That strap is what makes an off-shoulder gown wearable through a whole day. An unsupported off-shoulder neckline slides down every time you raise your arms and has to be pulled back up, which is fine for a photograph and exhausting for a ceremony followed by a receiving line. Here the strap carries the weight and the sleeve only has to look right.

Courthouse and Small Ceremonies

This is cut for a modern, smaller wedding. A courthouse ceremony, an elopement, a registry office, a garden or terrace wedding, and a reception after a traditional gown all suit a clean off-white crepe with a subtle slit.

It is not built to fill a cathedral aisle. There is no train, no volume in the skirt and no beading, so a large formal church wedding will make it look understated rather than restrained. Choose it when the room is intimate and the gown is meant to be the person rather than the spectacle.

Six Bands One Shade

Six numeric bands are cut, in the single off white colorway.

Size chart, measured in inches
Size Bust (in) Waist (in) Hips (in)
6 35 27 38
8 36 28 39
10 37 29 40
12 38 30 41
14 40 32 43
16 42 34 45

Every figure above is in inches and is taken on the body rather than on the finished garment, so measure the fullest part of the bust, the narrowest part of the waist an inch or two above the navel, and the fullest part of the hips.

Take the bust measurement over a strapless bra or nothing at all, whichever you plan to wear on the day. A measurement taken over an everyday bra can run an inch out, and on a neckline that pleats into the side seam an inch changes where the sweetheart curve sits. Crepe has almost no stretch, so the band that is closest wins and a tailor closes the rest.

Alterations, Creases and Travel

Can the off-shoulder sleeve be raised? It is set into the shoulder seam with the strap above it, so raising it means recutting both. What can be adjusted easily is the strap length, which changes how firmly the sleeve is held without touching the drape.

Does crepe crease in a suitcase? Far less than satin. The grained surface hides light creasing and what does show usually falls out overnight on a hanger, which is why crepe is the standard recommendation for a destination wedding.

Can the slit be closed? Yes, and it is a plain seam left open below a stitched point. Moving that point up takes minutes and leaves the hem and the drape untouched.

What can be worn underneath? The gown is off the shoulder with a thin strap, so a strapless band works and is easier here than on most gowns in this range. Choose seamless below the waist, since crepe skims rather than gathers and will show an edge.
