The lid flips over and becomes a wooden serving tray. One side is a cushioned seat and the other is a hard round surface, so the same 17 inch cube is a footstool, a table and a storage box depending on which way up it sits.
- A lid with two faces Cushion up for sitting, tray up for drinks.
- Four solid wood legs With non slip pads, rather than a fabric base on the floor.
- 330 pounds of seating On a 17 inch cube that stores what is inside it.
A Lid With a Hard Side and a Soft One
Putting a drink on an upholstered ottoman is how upholstered ottomans get ruined. A tray built into the lid solves it permanently rather than with a separate object that gets lost. Flip the lid, set the glass on wood, flip it back when the guests leave. The tray also lifts out, so it carries a coffee to another room and comes back.
Seventeen Inches in Every Direction
A cube at 17 inches lands at footstool height, at side table height beside most sofas and at seat height for a child. That single dimension is why this size of ottoman turns up in living rooms, bedrooms, entryways and changing rooms without anyone planning it. The interior is hollow to the base, so the depth is the full 16.5 inches rather than a shallow tray under the lid. On a cube that is the difference between storing a folded throw and storing a remote control.
What a Seventeen Inch Interior Holds
A 17 inch interior takes remotes, throws, magazines and toys, and it will not take bedding. The size that makes it useful in a small room is the same size that limits it. For duvets and seasonal storage a long chest is the shape to look for instead.
Using It, Cleaning It and Standing It
Does the tray come out completely? It lifts free of the lid, so it can be carried and washed separately from the upholstery.
How is microfiber cleaned? A damp cloth and a soft brush. Microfiber releases most marks with water alone, which is why it is used on furniture that people sit on in outdoor clothes.
Will it slide on a wood floor? The non slip pads under the four wooden legs are what stop it. Legs also lift the fabric off the floor, which keeps the base clean.
