Vetiver Perfume

Vetiver is harvested from the roots of a grass, and where that grass grew changes the result more than most people expect. Haitian vetiver runs smoky and faintly sweet, while Javanese runs drier and rougher, closer to turned earth. Neither is the better material, but knowing which one you met first explains why the same note can seem elegant in one bottle and severe in another.
